So this is an unusual post today. Kind of like my 26th birthday post and my thoughts on fashion trends, it’s a spur of the moment type of post. These midnight ramblings are taking quite a toll on my sleep lol!
It’s over happiness. Weird huh?
If you think about it happiness is kind of weird? Little to no things bring happiness to our lives. Whether we realize it or not, happiness impacts our lives like no other. It’s as simple as receiving a text from a certain someone or eating a specific food or dessert (pizza in my case lol).
I bring up this topic because I experienced an interesting turn of events at work the other day relating to happiness. After this specific event, the topic_the words-kept playing over and over in my mind until I unleashed them on paper.
The other day we threw a baby shower at work for an employee. During this baby shower, one of our coworkers, the photographer, was not in the most pleasant of moods. She wasn’t snappy or rude, in fact you couldn’t even tell she felt unhappy. Later after the shower, the photographer and I scrolled through all of the pictures we taken earlier. She spent some time gazing at a photo of herself. She commented how she looked wide and needed cropping lol!
FYI, she didn’t look wide at all!
After several minutes of looking at herself in the pictures, she started laughing. “I’m happy now!”
“When I came in today I was unhappy and didn’t know why. But I realized I was unhappy because I felt wider today after looking through these pictures. But now I know why I was unhappy, and I feel happy now!”
You still with me? Good.
After this exchanged I literally sat for five minutes contemplating what she said. I’m still making sense of this, but I see this trend in other people too including myself. Often when we don’t know what’s wrong, we feel more down in the dumps (at least I do). Sometimes simply knowing what’s the matter makes all the difference. Even if the fact isn’t necessarily good just knowing it can change our perspective and happiness.
Where am I getting at with this? I don’t know. But all I know is that someone out there needed to read this today, who I don’t know. So if you’re unhappy or even contemplating happiness I hope this helps in some ways. Or at least something to ponder about.
