In today’s world, the average person often views fashion or clothes as a shallow subject, or superficial. You know those people who shut you down before you have a chance to explain why your style or fashion choice is so important to you? I’ve met a few people in my lifetime like that, very opposing to the idea of fashion as a deep subject.
Fashion is not shallow. Clothes, trends, designer pieces_those are shallow, hollow, cold. Which is why I despise the idea of fashion trends, as seen here in this post. But your style is not. It bridges the gap of who we are and what we cannot speak. It’s how we communicate before we even say a word.
Fashion is a reflection of our truest, inner-most self. Even the shyest, most timid person becomes the boldest when allowed to show their style. Now do not think or presume our outfits define us, our souls. Each individual human being is not defined by their outfit choices. What we wear or not wear is sometimes a matter of choice or lack of.
No, our outfits do not define us but it’s how we boldly wear our pieces and how we turn each little accessory into something personal. What may be a chunk of plastic to someone is a little treasure to you. Whether your style is classic, punk, country, retro, or a combination of everything, it still represents you and adds a little piece of happiness to your life, like here in this post.
Why am I telling you all this? Because fashion holds dear to my heart, and I know it does to many other people as well. Unfortunately, many people are bullied for their styles. Maybe it’s because they stand out a little too much or don’t blend in enough.
Aah, that’s what it is, not blending in enough.
I’m going to leave on this little note, don’t you dare change your style or who you are because too many people want you to blend in. It’s those who stand out that conquer great things.
